Classes

Every season we try and offer supplementary classes to our members at a nominal fee. For Fall 2011, we’ve twisted the arm of our resident instructor, Harvey Augenbraun, to teach some photo classes after our regular meeting sessions. Dates are 10/22, 11/5 and 11/19. Tentative program, which will be based on Photoshop Elements 9 (also, of course, applicable to standard Photoshop), will be as follows:
 

Basic Photoshop Elements Course Using Elements 9

 
Session 1: Basic Image Capture / Understanding Your Camera – 10/22/11

Camera settings

• Color space
• Image quality
• F-stops and shutter speeds.
• Correct exposure – Reading your histogram

 
Session 2: Basic Workflow 1 – 11/5/11

• Opening an image in Elements
• Using Adobe Camera Raw
• Image editing*

 
Session 3: Basic Workflow 2 / After the Capture – 11/19/11

• Image Editing* Continued
• Preparing to Print
• Converting to Black & White (time permitting)

*Image editing will include cropping, levels, curves, cloning, burning & dodging and layer masks.

Pricing will be $30 for members (or $10/session). Non-members pricing will be $70.00, which will include membership for the 2011-2012 season.
